I teach four weekly public movement classes. I also work with clients individually – dealing with a range of issues. Common concerns are posture improvement, breathing education, relief of chronic pain, movement difficulties after illness, injury or surgery, improving balance and coordination, reducing stress, and generally doing everyday activities better. My background in nursing, teaching and Yoga blend well with the Feldenkrais® Method. It is a privilege and pleasure to work with people in this gentle, explorative way; and help them discover new possibilities for themselves.
I have always been interested in health and well-being. I worked as a registered nurse for 20 years, eight of these in Nursing Education. My own health issues related to exhaustion and stress caused me to retire from this in 2000, and seek alternative ways to improve my own health. I resumed my Yoga practice in earnest, deciding to train to become a Yoga Teacher. During this training I was introduced to the Feldenkrais® Method, and with regular attendance of ATM® classes, I was able to relieve my chronic shoulder and neck pain, and headaches. I also was able to recover quickly from a pelvic fracture in 2005. I love the way I am now more in tune with how I move and feel. My life has improved hugely. I have discovered that life can be a continuous process of learning, so no matter what one’s age is, improvement doesn’t have to stop.
