Group classes

Awareness through movement®

In a group class, you are guided through a process of movement exploration that supports a relaxed yet attentive state. These explorations use movements derived from sports, dance, and the martial arts, natural patterns of neurological functioning, and developmental movements as observed in babies and children. They take place on the floor, in a variety of orientations, including lying, sitting, kneeling, standing or walking.

By engaging your curiosity, gently and at your own rate, you learn to explore the world of your internal sensation. You learn to use this awareness about the quality of your movement to change old habits of tension and improve your balance, coordination, and sense of wellbeing.

“…self-knowledge through awareness is the goal of re-education. As we become aware of what we are doing in fact, and not what we say or think we are doing, the way to improvement is wide open to us.”  Moshe Feldenkrais

The Feldenkrais Method is experiential:  the best way is to find a class and try it.  Group classes are also known as Awareness Through Movement® (ATM) lessons.
