Currently my private practice SimpleMove centres on individual lessons. Coming from a background in performing arts I work extensively with musicians and other performers, alongside a great variety of others: those living in pain or with chronic conditions (fibromyalgia, Parkinsons, stroke, frozen shoulder, OOS), others adjusting after weight loss surgery, sportspeople, children and those, who simply want to move better to achieve their everyday activities more easily. The variety of students provides for a stimulating and exciting practice. I also offer weekly group Awareness Through Movement (ATM) classes. Raised in the North Island and after several years living in Europe, I have now been settled in Dunedin for 30 years. On arrival I was involved in founding a number of community theatre projects, including the first Playback Theatre Company in Dunedin, a Women’s Performance Art Collective and I taught drama as part of an employment programme. For more than 16 years I worked at Otago University developing interactive software for language acquisition, as a tutor in Art History and more recently in Theatre Studies designing a database of New Zealand theatre. It was while I was working there that I started my Feldenkrais training in Melbourne.
